I would just recommend you to build a cheap PC to play BF3 instead of playing it on PS3 because its literally basically deserted as far as i know, and im even basing my information from at least 2 years ago. Im pretty sure the PC platform has a fairly decent amount of regular players and maybe a few custom servers still running, good luck.

Thanks. Many people still play it with a average about 500 players at any given time. Though there are currently a low player count due to server issues that is preventing a lot of people from logging on. Not many active AU/NZ servers, but I personally don't have a lot of lag problems playing on non-regional low ping servers.
