Grand Budapest Hotel leaves me with a question. Let's have a discussion! During the time that M. Gustave is in prison, Zero and Agatha meet and fall in love. Gustave proceeds to interview Agatha at the hotel where he openly flirts with her and gives her flowers and a pendant. If I'm not mistaken, the interview was given so that Gustave could
I absolutely love the script, direction, score and performances by the entire cast, especially Ralph Fiennes as M. Gustave. If you absolutely hate Anderson films, you probably won't like this one. With this being rated R and Moonrise being rated PG, this film is definitely darker, which makes the film more humorous imo.
I also felt like despite the hotel as the main set piece, they too frequently left the hotel, and some of the movie's most climactic scenes took place not in the hotel. In that regard, the movie would have benefited from more simplicity: fewer characters, more intimate scenes in fewer places.

Hilarious and sentimental, The Grand Budapest Hotel is Wes Anderson’s best film of his career and hands-down one of the funniest films to come along in years. It has an A-list cast led by Ralph Fiennes who gives an extraordinary performance and steals the movie as Gustave H, the gentleman charmer of the best hotel around in Europe before World War II.

Set in 1932, Monsieur Gustave (Ralph Fiennes) lords over the opulent Grand Budapest Hotel in the mountains of Zubrowka. Following the tragic death of his aging paramour Madame Desgoffe (Tilda Swinton), Gustave, and his protege, Zero (Tony Revolori) flee to pay their respects.

In the end he died and his old fashioned ways of charm and charisma die with him as signified by the orange décor of the hotel. He was the glue that held the grandeur together, and even with Zero’s best efforts, it fell apart once Gustave was gone. Works Cited. Anderson, Wes “The Grand Budapest hotel screenplay“.
