I'm pretty new to Jira automation, so hopefully this is easy. I would like to create an automation that would link stories and tasks together based on certain criteria, within an epic. For example, in Epic 1, let's say Stories are created, "iOS Story 1", "iOS Story 2", and "iOS Story 3". I then create a task called "QA: iOS".
There is no provision to create sub-task under Epic. 2. Create a task and link it to Epic. 3. Convert the task to sub-task. I now see, Epic has sub-task and the sub-task panel enabled. I am not sure, is this intentionally provided as a feature or is it a bug? I am using Cloud Jira premium version. Watch.
Hi @Tarun Sapra , we have same requirement "restrictive access to certain epics within a project". I could able to "Assigning an issue security scheme to a project (but not able to do at epic level)" after going the document links you provided. Can you guide me on how to "assign an issue security scheme to a epic." Thanks!
Go to the Backlog for your project. On the top of the backlog page, select the desired epic. At this point the backlog section only shows the issues belonging to the epic and clicking on "add new issue" at the bottom of the section automatically adds the new created issues to the epic. Another way to achieve the same result would be to create
With "project = XXX" I will see the epics in the new board, in the sidebar. But they have different names to the original board and don't have any issues attached, like in the first screenshot I sent. They will have their original label Number, but all of them are called "No-Label-345" for example. Even though in the original board the issues
While it is possible to clone hierarchies with Jira Automation, this can be quite finicky and can break easily if project or issue configurations change. If you are open to use a third-party app, our Deep Clone for Jira can clone whole issue hierarchies, including Initiatives, Epics, Tasks/Stories, and Subtasks. Navigate to the issue you want
Creating Issues on the Story Map. To create a new issue on the User Story Map, hover over any blank space under an epic and click anywhere in the blue box with the [+] sign. Clicking on the blue box will create a new issue card. Simply type in the story summary and hit enter to continue creating issues beneath your chosen epic.
Give an example for Epic, User Story, Task and Bug. Epic: PTL is the creator of Epic. In Gerrit Commit to a Jira Issue ID, Epic is never used as a reference. (since Epic is a large project
Jira Software Server and Data Center; JSWSERVER-25075; Make it easy to convert between Initiative, Epic, Story and Task/Subtask
Epic X is created in project A . Task B is created in project B and is assigned to Epic X. Inside project B I group by epic. Epics from project B show up, but tickets from Epic X are completely filtered out. They are just gone. They are not a part of any of the epics in project B and they do not fall into "issues without epics".
Hi @Shasheekant Patel,. As an alternative to the limited Epic report of Jira, you could try the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) gadget offered by our Great Gadgets app.. This gadget displays the issues from a filter by their hierarchy in form of Epic > Story, Task > Sub-Task along with their current status, thus giving you a quick overview about the work content and progress.
I filed an issue in Jira Support regard this and they told me that is a fundamental change of code that they are doing, so their idea is to respect the hierarchy Epic->Story->SubTask and remove the option to have subtasks for the Epics. There is a request to keep subtasks for Epics in the link below, please if you are affected vote this request
Hugo Jul 15, 2020. You can change the order of the issues by selecting the epic and dragging/dropping the sub items in the right panel. It is also possible to reorder the issues in the backlog (you can also show all the epics and filter by them when selecting "Epic Panel" in the "Epic" filter). Barry Smith Jan 27, 2022.
In Scrum Board mode you can choose to show the Epic panel in the board configuration, and Match existing Issue and Epic by dragging cards. View More Comments You must be a registered user to add a comment.
